Joost spent his younger years in Europe, graduating as a metallurgical engineer from Delft University in the Netherlands, where he was also President of a 1,000 member student fraternity. After enjoying his first working years at Hoogovens Steel (now Tata Steel Europe) in various departments, in 1992 Joost moved to Mexico to work on a consulting project at Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA). He never looked back. Since then he has worked in four different countries and gained wide-ranging experience in BOF (“integrated”) and EAF (“mini mill”) steelmaking as well as downstream processes. He has occupied roles in general management, purchasing, sales, operations, logistics and planning as well as consulting. Joost started 3VC Consulting LLC in 2020 to make his wide expertise available to steel producing and steel processing companies. Through his travels and personal interests, he has become conversant in seven languages. Joost lives with his family in Louisville in the beautiful state of Kentucky. He has been an active supporter of the local community, among others as Board member of the Louisville Orchestra. In his free time, he enjoys making or listening to music, a good book and a glass of wine and walking or hiking in the hills around town.
